Abbie & Ben Married | Tarrytown Estate Wedding

As they relate on their wedding site “Abbie and Ben met briefly in May 2009 at a friend’s birthday party. Ben was admiring her from across the room, and with the help of his roommate, approached her with the line, “My parents are going to love you…” Ben denies using a cheesy line like that, but I find it to be a pick-up line of sincere and refreshing honesty. It really doesn’t matter if he said it or if Abbie just thinks he did (though I must side with a woman’s recollection :) – what matters is that they immediately saw each other in the context of a relationship. And of course, Ben’s parents DID  love her. They also share on their site the rest of the story of how things progressed, delightfully entitled “I Gotta Feeling..”

Ben proposed to Abbie in Colorado. And that morning, back at Abbie’s home, her Mom and Dad anxiously waited for a phone call from the couple. Becka, their daughter, called from Indiana. She told them she had a dream that Abbie was getting married – but unsure if Ben or Abbie had revealed the plans, her Mom played it cool. Later after the engagement, Abbie and Ben called Becka to tell her the news and she could hardly believe her amazing premonition! There were so many amazing signs that they were meant to be together; on their wedding site they explain how everyone around them had premonitions about it. For example Abbie’s Mom saved a sentimental text for 15 months from their first date. It said the date was going “wonderful!” After they got engaged she showed them the text- she had a feeling…

Abbie and Ben’s wedding day was very important to them, and they planned out every last detail with the incredible work of the amazing wedding planner Amy Shey Jacobs of Chandelier Events. She did an amazing job – everything was so professional and efficient, as well as organized and stress free. The best way to explain the planning and design process is to share Abbie’s own words on it:

Theme/Inspiration: With the timing of the wedding at the very beginning of fall, we took inspiration from the idea of an Indian Summer. We were also inspired by Marrakesh which led us to use the lanterns and votive holders seen throughout the event. Last but not least, we wanted to celebrate the occasion and have FUN!

We wanted the night to be filled with color and achieved this by using jewel tones of some of our favorite colors – teal, orange, pink and gold. The gray bridesmaids dresses were selected for the sophisticated look that would also work well with our colors.

We wanted the rooms to feel warm to give the night a more intimate feel – which is why we went with low flower arrangements for the tables – so talking and laughing was easy for our esteemed guests.

We also wanted our guests to dance the night away – so the band was a difficult decision but we definitely chose well as the dance floor was packed all night!

For us – our wedding was absolutely perfect! We had the most incredible time – from the personal and emotional ceremony to the touching speeches from family and friends, to the stunning decor that encapsulated us and our guests, to the fun, high-energy band that kept us on our feet – we wish the night could go on forever.

Abbie and Ben, it was a pleasure capturing your love and connection together! Thank you for trusting me with your most precious memories. The day was truly a pleasure and a joy to photograph and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to experience every emotion that you shared with your family and friends on that special day.

Update: I just got this beautiful email from Abbie.
“Thank you SO MUCH for sharing the gorgeous, stunning and wonderful photos with us! We absolutely love them and it is so great to see them – helping us to relive the wonderful day!
