Jen and Jeff first met on a teen tour/summer program when they were fifteen. They were part of a group of 40 that travelled through Canada and the west coast. Coincidentally, when Jen was 16, she met a friend on another summer program, who grew up with Jeff. A few years later, after Jen and Jeff graduated from college, both returned to NYC to attend law school (different ones). Once back in the city, Jen and Jeff began hanging out as friends. Their friendship eventually progressed into something much more serious!
The story of their engagement:
On July 18, 2009, Jen left the apartment early to go to work for a few hours. After work, she met some friends for a drink, but Jeff told her to be home early, as he was cooking dinner for her. When Jen got home, the doorman gave her a huge bouquet of roses with a card attached, which simply read, “I have a question” (because Jeff always prefaces his questions with that statement). Jen went upstairs and found Jeff, dressed in her favorite shirt of his, cooking the same meal Jeff cooked for her the first (and only other, according to Jen, although Jeff disagrees) time he made dinner for her. Jeff quickly realized that the doorman gave Jen the bouquet, which was not according to the plan. So had to move quickly and when Jen had her back to him, as she was placing the bouquet and mail on the table, he got down on one knee behind her. As soon as she turned around, Jeff proposed!! Jen said yes! Jeff’s next question “Can I turn the stove off?” They then sat down for the first course (Jen’s favorite cheeses) and called their families. After dinner (a pasta dish with tuna, roasted red peppers, garlic, onions and a homemade sauce), they shared dessert (Jen’s favorite-chocolate cake) and lots of champagne with Jen’s family. Jeff and Jen spent the rest of the weekend celebrating, going to a yankee game and seeing Jeff’s family.
