  • My Blog

Welcome to my blog!   This blog showcases not only my work from many of the beautiful weddings I am privileged to photograph, but also reveals glimpses of my personality.    Here is an opportunity to share some great moments  as well as give clients,  guests and friends the chance to comment. I also hope prospective clients will be able to not only explore my photography and style, but will also find inspiring ideas, recommendations , and tips for their own wedding planning.   I myself got married five years ago and I remember how overwhelming it all was- especially picking the right photographer!  :-)

Christine and Eddy were married at the Central Park Boathouse. It is a beautiful, famous icon of Central Park overlooking the Lake. They were lucky with the weather too. It was beautiful, sunny and warm all day – which is quite lucky for New York City’s unpredictable weather. And the backdrop of Central Park was just perfect and complimented the beautiful day. Laura from VOW Weddings coordinated the day, and did an amazing job – everything was so professional and efficient, as well as organized and stress free. She is so dedicated and hard working, it was obvious that she really loves what she does- I recommend her to everyone! You can read more information about how she planned their wedding day on her blog.

I have to say, Christine was one of the bravest brides ever! She did her own hair on the wedding day and it came out amazing. She looked beautiful!

Christine and Eddy saw each other for the first time under the awning in front of the St. Regis Hotel. It was beautiful to witness and capture the raw emotion that they shared. Then we drove to Central Park at 72nd street for their bride and groom portraits. I always prefer that the bride and groom see each other before the ceremony. I know that some couples like to keep the tradition of not seeing each other before the ceremony, but I really recommend thinking about seeing each other beforehand to get good photos. It will also relieve stress, make the day less hectic, and gives the bride and groom the option to spend more time enjoying the cocktail hour and the reception. It also leaves time to take many beautiful portrait photos.

It was a great pleasure to be a part of Christine and Eddy’s wedding day and to capture their connection and love together. It was also so nice to get to know them and their families and friends. They are very lucky to have so many great people around them. On their wedding day they were surrounded by so much love, and I had a great time capturing all of it.

Thank you Christine and Eddy for trusting me with capturing your special moments on your special day! The day was very emotional and it was so beautiful to see the special connection that you share with each other. It is so nice to see the way your personalities compliment each other perfectly.

When I sent the slideshow to Christine she responded with a wonderful email. Thank you, Christine for the kind words, this kind of appreciation makes all the hard work worth it.

“Shira,

Thank you so much for working with us on our special day. Our guests were impressed by hardworking and focused you and Ayena were. These pictures are beautiful! You really captured our love, happiness and fun and the perspectives and viewpoints are really interesting and unique. Really excited to send these around b/c everyone has been asking for them! Can’t believe there will be so much more to see as well.”

These days everyone has a professional camera. It was funny to take this photo of all the guests taking pictures of the bride and groom cutting the cake. After taking this shot I kind of felt like the bride and groom didn’t need to hire me. :)
