Jenn & Jim Engagement Shoot

Jenn & Jim met 10 years ago in College, when Jenn was only 18 years old- a small step away from being high school sweethearts. I adore the deep meaning and symbolism of family heirlooms and was delighted to hear that Jim proposed with his Grandmother’s engagement ring. Their long relationship will receive that blessing of permanent committment when they marry in mid-May at Fordam Univeristy Church. Their reception will be held at Marros in Rye, which is a beautiful 19th century stone mansion.

We shot the engagement session in the Fort Tryon Park vicinity and in the Cloisters gardens. We got as close to the Cloisters themselves as possible before being sternly warned that photography permits are required. So, we then quickly fled to the West Village for some urban contrast. I had passed by the Caliente Cab Mexican Restaurant there just the other day with my husband (that is the best way to scout romantic locations) and thought it would look amazing as a backdrop with a lot of vibrant colorful flair and the vintage taxi. I especially love the shot amidst the road construction which has such a cool fresh dynamic to it.

I told Jenn that she looks just like Katie Holmes :) (something she said some other people also mentioned). I can’t wait to see what a stunning bride she is going to be.
