Nell first wrote me that “We are getting married in Pennsylvania, but met and live in Manhattan. It is very important to us that we capture pictures of us in the city where we met and fell in love.” When I get lines like that, passionately felt and simply expressed, I know instantly that this is a couple that I want to photograph. Where there is romance and chemistry, there will be great pictures.
Although I had met neither of them before the session itself, my instincts were proven correct and a smile crept across my face the moment I saw them together. We met right outside the Plaza Hotel where Nell just finished her hair at the Warren Tricomi Salon, coming out looking spectacular. From there we planned the day, starting in Central Park South and afterwards going to the Meatpacking.
In the Meatpacking, I was so happy this time that the Marilyn graffiti was back up. The elements had worn away Angelina Jolie from last Spring and I thought it a was a great pity that such cool street art was so temporary. But now, Madonna was up, fully Marilynized. I had to Google this time to see who was behind maintaining it and found out that the brilliant paste-up street art was the handicraft of L.A. Graffitti artist Mr. Brainwash, who has an equally creative website.
Here is a sneak peak of some of their photos – a glimpse of their love and the City which ignited it.
